Congratulations Lewis on getting on to your PGCE in PE at St Mary’s College, Twickenham. I know it has been a burning ambition to become a PE teacher and you have faced some hurdles getting there.
Lewis joined PE Direct, as a Secondary recruitment consultant, this time last year but I had worked with Lewis prior to this. I was contracted to provide an alternative learning programme for Cardiff West, where Lewis was a teaching assistant. We immediately ‘hit it off’ and it wasn’t long before I had offered Lewis a full-time position with PE Direct. What struck me, apart from getting on so well, was his work ethic and professionalism. Lewis has an old head on his young shoulders and whilst he appears to deal with his duties calmly and professionally, a lot of this was down to the hard work and preparation he puts in before the teaching day begins and when the day has finished. He was always first in and last out and would often ring me on a weekend if he felt there was something that needed addressing, there was never a stone unturned. PE Direct grew by almost 100% last year and this was largely down to Lewis growing our client base to over 50 High Schools in South Wales. More importantly than all of that though, I will miss Lewis being around, especially poolside at David Lloyd during the summer heatwave, LOL. We have had some great times which I will cherish forever!
I could go on but I think you get the gist and that is why we are hoping it is au revoir for now and not goodbye. Good luck up in the smoke Lewis, I know you will be a huge success as a teacher, if that’s what you chose to do. If not, the door is firmly wedged open for your return in nine months!
