Furlough for Agency Workers
Dear Agency workers,
We hope you are well and staying safe. I would like to take this opportunity to say thankyou for all of your hard work and I can assure you we are doing everything we can to ensure you are paid during this difficult period.
Following the publication of additional information by the UK Government, PE Direct is pleased to confirm that all qualifying Agency staff employed as of the 28th February 2020 are entitled to participate in the Corona Virus Job Retention scheme. If you were employed after this date, unfortunately, you don’t qualify.
This scheme has been introduced to help protect earnings during this time of economic crisis and enables PAYE employees to receive a payment of 80% of their normal wages up to a maximum of £2500.00 per month.
This means that we will be contacting all staff that are unable to work, and asking them to agree to become a Furloughed employee. To participate in this scheme, employees have to confirm that they are willing to be put under the rules of the Furlough scheme. Please visit the government website to see the rules in full.
Generally speaking, we will take an average of your monthly earnings since you began work with us, for a maximum of 12 months. We will be doing the calculations on your behalf based on government guidelines and the information held on our payroll system. This payment will be subject to normal tax deductions. To be eligible for this subsidy, when on furlough, an agency worker cannot undertake work on behalf of, PE Direct.
This will not apply to staff who are receiving payment for long term placements or who are continuing to work during this process.
The Government expect the scheme to be up and running by the end of April. We will be emailing all staff eligible for this scheme based on our payroll details during the coming weeks. The Furlough claims we will be making are subject to agreement and confirmation from HMRC Revenue and Customs and will be paid to you once we receive the funding from HMRC. This will hopefully be some time in May/June as a backdated payment.
